Group Therapy Offerings
Group therapy is a space in which clients can learn from both the therapists facilitating and their fellow group members. Groups are generally focused on a specific issue or need (such as learning new skills to regulate emotions, manage social anxiety, etc.) and can serve as additional support networks to those who are struggling.
Some of the benefits of engaging in therapy with and alongside others are: building new perspectives by listening and giving support, sharing skills and resources, and a finding sense of community.
While some clients may only attend therapy through groups, many people attend group therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment plan and find it effective alongside individual therapy.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Group
This weekly group offers supported time to engage in exposure for those using exposure and response prevention (ERP) to supplement their individual work with OCD, panic disorder, eating disorders, and social anxiety disorder.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Group
Each group is structured after Marsha Linehan’s Dialectical Behavioral Therapy treatment. These closed groups aim to support individuals who experience emotion dysregulation to build more effective coping skills.
Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Skills Group
The ACT Group is focused on utilizing the concepts of ACT to help clients become more aware of their internal experiences and better understand how it gets in the way of them living the lives they want for themselves.
Adult Social Anxiety Group
DASC offers a social anxiety group that is a 13-week, closed group for adults who experience social anxiety and find themselves avoiding social situations. This group incorporates additional evidence-based treatment, including mindfulness, values work, ACT metaphors, and exposure therapy.
