Elizabeth Dahll, LCSW (She/her)
Staff Therapist
Values: Kindness, Understanding, Humor, Creativity
Key beliefs: When we connect with our values, we are able to move our lives in meaningful directions, even in the face of difficult experiences.
As your therapist, I will collaborate with you in identifying the roadblocks to creating a life full of meaning and purpose, whatever that may look like for you. I will bring my warmth, openness, and humor to this process as we work together to balance acceptance and change without judgement.
I see the therapeutic relationship as the foundation upon which change is built. I believe honest feedback between client and therapist, provided in a gentle and supportive way, is necessary for maintaining this relationship. I hope to earn your trust as a guide and ally on your journey toward building a rewarding life based on your personal values.
Prior to joining DASC, I provided counseling and crisis intervention to children, adolescents, and their families in school and non-profit settings. I have experience in treating individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, interpersonal problems, and navigating life changes.
In order to meet each client’s individual needs, I draw from my training in several empirically validated theoretical frameworks including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and LGBTQ-affirming practices. I believe in the importance of improving my practice through ongoing training, supervision, and consultation.
Education:
New York University, BS in Applied Psychology
University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration, AM with a Clinical Concentration
A little more about me:
After work these days, you’ll probably catch me hanging out at home with my plants and my partner or working on a new crafting/design project. I find nature restorative and try to engage in as many outdoor activities as city life allows. I love to travel and have lived in a handful of places on the East Coast and in Europe before settling here in Chicago.
