Chris Williams, LPC (He/him)

Recruitment Coordinator

Hi, my name is Chris Williams, and I’m so glad that you took one of the hardest steps in your mental health journey…looking for a therapist! It can be hard to find someone who fits the criteria of what you’re looking for, or even trying to figure out WHAT you’re looking for, so let me tell you a little about me…

I believe that two of the most important aspects of one’s mental health are ways of coping and values. I believe that no matter what life throws at us, we all find different ways to cope with it. Some of these ways of coping can even be necessary just to get through the next day, hour, or even minute. However, sometimes these coping strategies can prevent us from living by our values. In treatment with me, I aim to help clients balance those two aspects in ways that align with their goals. I’m a pretty “active” therapist, which means I’m not going to sit back and just say “mhm” the whole time while you talk. I see therapy as more of a conversation, while also recognizing that this is YOUR session, NOT mine! Lastly, I know I may have a fancy Master’s degree, but you’re the expert of you, and I will do my best to use what I know to collaborate with you during our sessions together.

A little bit more about me:

I received my Master’s in Counseling Psychology degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and have worked in various levels of mental health services, ranging from community centers to corporations and private practices. These experiences have included clients of various races, cultures and age groups.

I am an individual and group therapist able to treat a multitude of areas such as anxiety disorders (Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety, OCD), men’s issues, anger, struggles associated with neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder) as well as career & occupational issues.

I utilize evidence-based psychotherapy methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure & Response Prevention, Radically-Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy.

Insurance Accepted: BCBS PPO, Aetna PPO, Sliding Scale when Applicable
