Building Body Image Flexibility Group

Wednesdays from 5:00pm-6:00pm

This closed group utilizes techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients in building body image flexibility, in order to move towards valued actions involving their body while coming into contact with their body image. This group aims to provide a space for individuals to explore body image as the personal relationship they have with their bodies.

In this group we will explore perceptions, beliefs, memories, urges, thoughts, and feelings around physical appearance and body image, as well as exploring how clients feel IN their bodies. There will be an experiential component of this group where clients will practice exercises such as defusion from difficult body-focused thoughts, understanding body image avoidance and building experiential body image acceptance, and engaging in body image exposures to move them closer to their values.
