Acceptance and Commitment
(ACT) Skills Group

Please email McKenzie Gallagher for specific times and dates for this group.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is an evidence based treatment approach that has been proven to be effective with a broad range of mood and anxiety disorders. This group is not targeted to any specific diagnoses, but rather focused on skill building and behavioral change regardless of the specific diagnoses that might be present that gets in the way of movement in therapy.

The ACT Group is focused on utilizing the concepts of ACT to help clients become more aware of their internal experiences and better understand how it gets in the way of them living the lives they want for themselves. It will provide education and concrete skills to enhance the use of ACT concepts such as acceptance, defusion, self-as-context, and present moment awareness in order to move towards engaging in life in more meaningful ways. Alongside skill-building, this group will work on helping clients come into contact with their personal values and to identify
realistic and tangible goals they can set to move towards a values-driven life.
