Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to have a gander at my profile. My view on therapy is a humanistic one. I like to start out by building rapport using my silly humor and what some may call a fun personality all while gauging safeness and comfortability with my clients. I have learned quite well that the most important thing is the therapeutic relationship by exemplifying openness, empathy, and genuineness. Therefore I am passionate about working with all ages of folks on various presenting problems. I have experience in working with preschoolers to preteens on a number of mental and behavioral issues. I have also spent some time in community mental health helping clients on their journey to recovery. I have learned such wonderful lessons on therapy as whole, but I believe there’s something new to learn everyday! Through my experience as a mental health therapist and fellow LGBTQIA+ community member I am continually working on my knowledge of the intersectionalities life places on an individual and the mental health impacts social injustices create.
I work from an evidence based frame of mind while keeping therapy sessions client centered, meaning I don’t like to throw a bunch of therapy jargon and hope for the best. My approach is a team effort because who knows themself better than themself? Not me! I like to work with multiple modalities of therapy stemming from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which pretty much means that we will work together to challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors while replacing them with more helpful ones. I also work in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Radically Open-DBT (RO-DBT), and soon in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I find that using multiple approaches is most beneficial rather than working through one modality of therapy. I find that each individual is just that, an individual and is unique in their needs. Through creating a treatment plan that encompasses multiple therapeutic techniques together we can work on obtaining your needs.

A bit more about me: I love animals (even spiders), especially my overly spoiled dog! My favorite ice cream is birthday cake or superman and eat sour patch kids like they’re a meal. I’m really into reading biographies and essays on social justice (boring I know). I am also passionate about learning whether that’s through a random Ted Talk or listening intently to Johnathan Van Ness’ podcast “Being Curious”.
