Stephanie Gallardo is a Bilingual Staff Therapist at the Depression and Anxiety Specialty of Chicago (DASC). Ms. Gallardo received her undergraduate degree in Psychology, Human Development with a minor in Sociology from DePaul University. Prior to pursuing a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from The University of Chicago, Ms. Gallardo took the opportunity to work in the mental health field for 5 years in collaborating with various underserved populations in the following roles of Research Specialist in working Latinos who contend with Trauma and Substance Use Disorders; Consultant to DCFS in reviewing and providing oversight of psychotropic medications prescribed to youth in care; and Residential Counselor providing mentorship and case-management services to court-involved youth and their families

Ms. Gallardo completed her graduate clinical training internships at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Presence Saint Mary Medical Center, both in inpatient psychiatric care in providing crisis intervention, short-term stabilization, individual, group, and family therapy. Before joining DASC, Ms. Gallardo served as a Bilingual Staff Therapist at Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4) in the Child & Adult Outpatient Programs where she provided individual and family therapy. Ms. Gallardo also serves as a Behavioral Health Counselor at ERC Insight Behavioral Health Centers for the adult Mood, Anxiety & Trauma-Related Disorders (MATR), and the Binge-Eating Treatment & Recovery (BETR) residential programs in providing crisis management, skills-coaching and facilitating DBT-skills groups on the weekends.

Ms. Gallardo takes a warm, empathetic, and collaborative approach to therapy that is grounded in the client’s values and strengths. She has experience working with individuals who contend with depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mood-related disorders. In her practice, Ms. Gallardo utilizes trauma informed-care, strengths-based, person-centered therapy; Mindfulness and evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
