Melissa Mello is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at the Depression and Anxiety Specialty Clinic of Chicago. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Washington, and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego.
Ms. Mello completed her training at the UC San Diego where she provided outpatient treatment for eating disorders and anxiety disorders. She has also contributed to clinical research and worked on a multidisciplinary hospital team. Prior to joining DASC, Ms. Mello worked with eating and anxiety disorders in her private practice, as well as at the UCSD Eating Disorder Center’s Intensive Family Treatment program.
Ms. Mello works with children, adolescents, adults and their families. She specializes in treating eating disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, emotion dysregulation, and interpersonal concerns. Ms. Mello has received training in and utilizes evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), mindfulness, and Family Based Treatment (FBT) for adolescents with anorexia and bulimia. She believes that continued learning is essential to providing the best care and is engaged in regular consultation and training. She strives to work collaboratively with clients and tailor treatment to their individual goals.
