Staff Therapist-Lakeview Office
I know that starting therapy can be an overwhelming and daunting process, and my number one priority is to create an open and non-judgmental space. I consider my approach to be genuine, warm, and thoughtful. I take time to get to know each of my clients and their individual needs so that together we become a strong team. Some of the values I bring to my work are connection, humor, and creativity. I often incorporate written reflection, music, and other expressive outlets in sessions with my clients. I recognize the importance of continuously advancing my learning and teaching, and consider myself a “forever student”. I currently lead one of the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) groups offered at DASC and have seen many clients make tremendous growth using this approach. I also have experience as a lecturer at Northwestern University where I taught Introduction to DBT for graduate students in clinical psychology.
I specialize in therapy for anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, life transitions, and difficulty in relationships. I am an ally for the LGBTQIA+ population and strive to create an environment where each client feels safe to share all aspects of their identity. I provide therapy utilizing evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). These approaches emphasize mindfulness of our experience and the world around us, so that we can better understand ourselves and make changes that align with our values.

One thing about therapy I wish everyone knew:
It is a process and it takes time. Keep in mind that things didn’t get to this point overnight, and therefore won’t change overnight. Be gentle and compassionate with yourself while you persist (with the support of your therapist!) in your hard work.
A bit more about me:
I enjoy traveling near or far- some of my favorite destinations have been Copenhagen, Kauai, and Cinque Terre. I grew up watching live music and the Cubs, and continue to love both to this day. I’m always finding new challenges outside of my comfort zone and am currently working on biking around the city!

“A moment of self-compassion can change your entire day. A string of such moments can change the course of your life.”
“We are all doing the best we can, and we can all do better.”
