Haniyyah Taufique is a Licensed Professional Counselor at the Depression and Anxiety Specialty Clinic of Chicago. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and her Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. During her master’s program, Ms. Taufique completed her clinical practicum and internship at the Anxiety and Stress Management Institute, where she provided individual counseling and led anxiety, OCD and hoarding disorder groups. While at GSU, she also interned with the Career Counseling Center, where she provided individual career counseling to undergraduate students and led a career group for homeless men in transitional housing.
Prior to joining DASC, Ms. Taufique gained experience in a variety of settings including a private practice where she specialized in treating phobias, depression, anxiety, trauma and hoarding disorders. Additionally, she worked with both adults and children in an inpatient hospital, where she completed assessments and provided individual and group therapy for patients with an array of concerns including severe anxiety, depression, substance abuse, trauma, PTSD, mood and personality disorders.
Ms. Taufique provides therapy through a strengths-based perspective using evidenced-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing. She strives to meet the client where they are in the process of change and walk alongside them in the journey to wellness.
